Aidan Robinson

Aidan Robisnon, or otherwise known by his unserious alias hahaweiner420, is a singer/songwriter from Ohio that puts his own spin on the classic genre of folk music. Though his style of folk is not one that is newly invented, and it's hard to talk about anyone pursuing a career in the folk genre without the Bob Dylan comparison, he is someone that I would say puts a real modern spin on what many people try to do. You could debate the uniqueness of his music comes from his songwriting but I would say that his delivery is also part of what makes him stand alone. His internet presence is seemingly very unserious but if you watch any of his self taped videos you will rarely find any evidence of a laugh or a smile. I would say this makes him more intriguing because it forces you to focus on his music. He doesn't give any indication with his tone or body language of how his writing should be interpreted. Though he is not writing completely opaque poems, it does make you pay attention to his work, which is fantastic.

His songs have a certain hop and soul to them that make you want to play them on repeat. He has a great voice that is pleasant to the ears without sounding like he's trying too hard. His fingerpicking and composing skills are sharp. The only critique I have of him is that some of his best songs are only on Soundcloud. Definitely give him a listen if you have some time and appreciate unpolished folk music!
